Film Forum Opens Exciting New Season of Screenings and Events with Film Industry Professionals

January 31, 2012, Montclair, NJ—Film Forum, Montclair State University’s annual spring film series running now through April 24, 2012, once again serves up a cinematic feast for the eye and the soul with events that include film screenings and conversations with notable filmmakers and industry professionals talking about their projects and the inner workings of the movie industry.

“People are fascinated with movies and love to know how they are made. We really tried to provide a range of both narrative and documentary films this year,” said Roberta Friedman, assistant professor in the Filmmaking Program at Montclair State’s College of the Arts, which sponsors the Film Forum.

The series will include three films that explore the Muslim experience and are being shown in conjunction with Justice and Civil Society in the Muslim World, a series of lectures held at Montclair State from March 5-April 25. One of these films, Just Like Us, is directed by Egyptian-American actor and comedian Ahmed Ahmed and strives to depict the Middle East as a place similar to the US and the rest of the world by showing that people around the world share the same sense of humor. Ahmed’s appearance is being co-sponsored by the Islamic Center of Passaic County.

Also on the Film Forum schedule are producers/directors, documentary filmmakers, a casting director, a panel of industry insiders that will examine the role of the Internet in the future of TV and film, and a Montclair State Filmmaking Program faculty show.

Film Forum takes place every Tuesday at 7:00 PM in University Hall, room 1040.  For a complete line up of events visit Film Forum Lecture Series.
