Montclair, NJ (12/5/11) – Back in action for
the first time in 16 days, the Montclair State men’s and women’s
swimming and diving teams dropped a home dual meet with Division I
Seton Hall University at the Panzer Athletic Center Pool on Monday
evening.
Both teams fell to 2-3 overall as the Red Hawk men dropped a
114-83 decision to the Pirates while the women lost 125.5-70.5.
Thomas Long (Morristown, NJ / Morristown) was
a double-winner for MSU in the meet as he captured the 50 freestyle
before helping the 200 medley relay team to victory. Long swam the 50
free in a time of 22.70 before anchoring the relay squad to a time of
1:41.97. Zak Westerberg (Hamilton, NJ / Hamilton North), Chris Lee (Morris Plains, NJ / Parsippany Hills) and Nikolas Lumkong (Byrum, NJ / Pope John XXIII) combined on the first three legs of the relay.
Donny Keenan (Scotch Plains, NJ / St. Joseph's)was victorious in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:03.40 while Jessica Joseph (Brick, NJ / Brick Township) made it a sweep of the event for the Red Hawks with a time of 1:11.05. Kelsie Donahue (Egg Harbor, NJ / Egg Harbor Township) was the other first-place winner for Montclair State taking the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:05.62.
Joseph Berry (Edison, NJ / Edison)
had a pair of second-place finishes in the 100 and 500 freestyles with
times of 50.03 and 5:13.51, respectively. Westerberg was second in the
100 fly (55.65) and Lee did the same in the 200 individual medley
(2:04.77).
Kelly Abner (Glenwood, NJ / Vernon) was second in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:06.12 and Ashley Vallone (Park Ridge, NJ / Park Ridge) placed second in the 50 freestyle (25.63).
Montclair State returns to action on Thursday, December 8 when
they host Misericordia University at home beginning at 5:00 pm.
