Alessandro Ciari and his team from the Public Health Association of MSU (a student-led Class III SGA Organization) and their Take Back the Tap campaign here at Montclair State University have won the Total Overall Pledge category in the national 2016 Tap-a-Palooza contest and will be awarded $1,500 to go towards a hydration station or other improvements to tap water access on our campus. The team collected 1,926 pledges – about 26% of the total pledges collected by all schools.

The initiative was designed to increase water consumption while minimizing the use of plastic water bottles, and the associated negative environmental consequences.

The PSE&G Institute at Montclair had previously reached out to match these funds if they won, so the total funds raised for this cause are $3,000.
