Montclair State University’s online Master of Arts in Educational Leadership degree program has been ranked #19 in the nation by the U.S. News & World Report 2019 Best Online Graduate Education Programs. In tying for #19, the University moved up from its 2018 ranking that tied it at #21.

Released on January 15, the new ranking – based on scores from five general categories, including student engagement; services and technologies; student excellence; faculty credentials and training; and opinions of academic experts – confirms the University’s status as a leader in educator preparation and a national and state research doctoral university.

“Our College is a national leader in preparing educators and other professionals in rigorous and innovative programs,” says College of Education and Human Services Dean Tamara Lucas. “This year’s top-20 ranking of our online graduate Educational Leadership program is a testament to our commitment to offering outstanding academic programs that are responsive to the needs of our students and our other constituents. The program’s ranking reflects the vision and expertise of the program’s leadership and faculty.”

Montclair State’s MA in Educational Leadership program gives students the conceptual tools and professional preparation they need to become accomplished school leaders. The flexible, comprehensive online program allows students to develop a course of study that best meets their career goals – and schedules.

“We value very highly those who entrust their learning to Continuing and Professional Education’s online programs at Montclair State University,” says Executive Director for Continuing and Professional Education (CAPE) Peter McAliney. “We are driven by three overarching hallmarks: responsiveness to our students, a commitment to continuous improvement, and the design and delivery of quality offerings. Together, these ensure that we are providing our students with the best possible learning experiences.”

In addition to the MA in Educational Leadership, Montclair State offers a number of other online master’s degree programs that offer working professionals career-enhancing skills and credentials.

MS degree programs in Sustainability Science and Information Technology integrate industry-related coursework with opportunities for business and leadership skill development. Fully online MA in Child Advocacy and Policy and MBA programs prepare professionals for career advancement. The University’s low-residency MFA in Dance uniquely combines on-ground studio work with online theory and research. Launched in fall 2018, the new online MSN in Nursing prepares registered nurses (RNs) for advanced practice in administration, education and clinical research.

While online graduate level certificates in areas ranging from Gifted and Talented Education to Computer Technology are available for those who may already have an advanced degree but want to build out or update skills that can enhance their career goals, online and hybrid continuing studies courses and certificates are regularly offered by Montclair State Continuing and Professional Education, or CAPE. Offerings include beginner to advanced courses and certificates in Blockchain Technology, Cybersecurity, Spanish for Health Professionals, Analytic Linguistics and more.
