Associate Professor, Justice Studies

Prior to joining Montclair State University’s department of Justice Studies, associate professor Jessica S. Henry was a public defender. Her research focuses on severe sentences such as the death penalty and life without parole, prisoner reentry and hate crimes, including cyberbullying.

She is a frequent commentator on national television, radio and print media. In June 2012, Henry was named the chair of the Steering Committee for Volunteer Lawyers for Justice’s Newark Reentry Legal Services, a program that helps Essex County residents with criminal records handle civil legal issues that bar successful community reintegration.
