NOTE: Freshmen who are preparing for certain majors such as Business, Education (Family and Child Studies), Natural Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Science Informatics), Athletic Training, Computer Science, All BFA/BMus. Majors, Health & Physical Education, Mathematics, and Recreation Professions, must schedule their freshman year courses in such a way that prerequisites are incorporated in a timely manner.  Certain sequences should begin in the freshman year.  Consult your First Year Counselor or the Major Department if you are unsure.

NOTE: If you place into any of the following Basic Skills courses, they must be completed (or Challenged, if eligible) during your FIRST TWO SEMESTERS:

      • Math 050/060 (Computation)
        Math 051/061 (Elementary Algebra)
      • ENWR 100 (Intro to College Writing)
      • READ 053 (Basic Reading Skills)
        READ 102 (College Reading and Study Skills)

 

First Semester

During the First Semester, students generally enroll in 13-16 credit hours:

An English Composition course
ENWR 105 College Writing I: Intellectual Prose

*Writing class based on student Writing Placement Test Score

3 Credits

A Math Course: MATH ####

*Math class based on on student Math Placement Test Score and Major (intended or declared). Consult your First Year Counselor prior to registering for a Math class

3/4 credits
A Freshman Experience Course: GNED 199 New Student Seminar 1 credit
A Speech Course: SPCM 101 Fundamentals of Speech 3 credits

A Foreign Language
