What is Family Orientation?

Family Orientation is a program designed to familiarize family members with our University community.  You will hear from students, faculty, and administrators about important campus issues and the academic expectations your student will encounter.  Discussions will take place regarding the new role you will play in your student’s life by helping him or her to become independent and successful in college.

Why attend Family Orientation?

Family participation is optional, but strongly encouraged.  There is a $35 non-refundable per person registration fee for Family Orientation that will be collected onsite. Only cash or money orders will be accepted. Credit cards, debit cards, or personal checks will NOT be accepted.

Your student is responsible for registering any family members wishing to attend 2008 Family NSO. This can be done by clicking the Family tab on the New Student Orientation registration page.

As a parent/guardian, you will continue to play an important role in your student’s personal development and academic success.  Family Orientation is a great way to take part in, and suppor t your student’s transition.  Our program will also highlight the transitional issues you will face.  In addition, Family Orientation will familiarize you with the multitude of resources available to you and your student at Montclair State.
