PRE-ORIENTATION AND PLACEMENT TESTING

Prior to your enrollment, you must have attended a Pre-Orientation and Placement Testing session. If you have not done so, contact the Center for Academic Development and Assessment immediately at (973) 655-4476. You will not be able to register for courses during Summer New Student Orientation without completing your placement test.

SUMMER NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION REGISTRATION IS HERE!

Your Summer New Student Orientation (NSO) date is determined by your admitted major. We strongly recommend that you attend the day that your admitted major is assigned so that you can meet faculty and other students from your major. Click on the link below to register for your Summer New Student Orientation. Please select your date carefully as you can only submit your registration once. REGISTRATION FOR 2008 SUMMER NSO HAS BEEN EXTENDED THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER. PLEASE REGISTER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO SECURE YOUR SPOT!

*Parents and/or family members should not be registering the student for Summer New Student Orientation as we encourage all of our First Year Freshman to login in order to get familiar with accessing the University's sites using their MSU NetIDs and CWIDs.

Please note that after you have registered yourself for Summer NSO you will have the option to register any family members attending in the same login page under the Family tab. It is very important that you enter the names of any family members wishing to attend carefully as this is what will appear on their name tags that they receive at check-in. Family members DO NOT have the option to login and register it will be up to you, the student, to register them.

You will have to first login with your MSU NetID and password then use your CWID and PIN to register for orientation.  If you have not setup your MSU NetID please click here netid.montclair.edu to set it up.  Please note that your MSU NetID DOES NOT replace your CWID.

If you are experiencing login errors in regards to your MSU NetID and password contact the Helpdesk at 973-655-7971.  If it is concerning your CWID and PIN, contact the Registrar at 973-655-4376. In addition, if you have any other questions regarding the online registration please contact New Student Experience at 973-655-7609.

Note: All First-Year Freshmen have a New Student Experience Hold which will be removed after they attend Summer New Student Orientation.

HOW TO @ MSU

After Summer NSO you will have access to an online community created exclusively for the Class of 2012. This online community is part of a greater academic tool called Blackboard. Many of your professors will use Blackboard extensively throughout your academic career at Montclair State. For information on how to login to the Blackboard community please click here.

RED HAWK DAY

All first year students come back on Red Hawk Day to reconnect with peers, take care of any unfinished business, locate your classes, and have fun! Be sure to wear your red and white to show your Red Hawk pride.

NEW STUDENT SEMINAR

This is a required course that all new students must take their first semester at Montclair State. The course will prepare you for the rigors of university academic expectations as well as familiarize you with campus resources and services. This course is designed to provide support during your adjustment to university life.
