MSU-Secure Setup for Intel PROSet Wireless Utility Manager on Windows

‌The MSU-Secure network is the recommended option for anyone with a MSU NetID. Most modern wireless devices are capable of using WPA2 encryption. This utility functions similarly in Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10.  

The following document is divided into two parts:

  1. Connect to MSU Secure with the Intel PROSet Wireless Utility Manager
  2. Make MSU-Secure Your Preferred Network With the Intel PROSet Wireless Utility Manager

Connect to MSU Secure with the Intel PROSet Wireless Utility Manager 

  1. On your Windows Desktop, click on the Intel PROSet Wireless Utility Manager Network icon found in the notifications area of your Windows Taskbar (located in the bottom right hand corner of your screen). Click on MSU-Secure, then click Connect



  2. C‌lick Configure WiFI



  3. S‌‌elect MSU-Secure as your Wireless Network.
  4. Click Connect.



  5. In the General Settings fields, enter "MSU-Secure" into both the Profile Name and Wifi Network Name (SSID) fields.

  6. Click Next.



  7. In the Security Settings field, select Enterprise Security. Then, select the following settings:
    • Network Authentication: WPA2 - Enterprise
    • Data Encryption: AES - CCMP
    • Authentication Type: PEAP
  8. Under the settings labelled "Step 1 of 2: PEAP User" choose the following:
    • Authentication Protocal: MS-CHAP-V2
    • User Credentials: Use the following
  9. Also under "Step 1 of 2: PEAP User," enter your NetID in the User Name field. Enter your NetID password in both the Password and Confirm Password fields. Leave the Doman field blank.
  10. Click Next.



  11. Under "Step 2 of 2: PEAP Server," check Validate Server Certificate, and under Certificate Issuer select Any Trusted CA.
  12. Click Next.



  13. Press OK the Configured screen. You will then be connected to the MSU-Secure network.



Make MSU-Secure Your Preferred Network With the Intel PROSet Wireless Utility Manager

  1. On your Windows Desktop, click on the Intel PROSet Wireless Utility Manager Network icon found in the notifications area of your Windows Taskbar (located in the bottom right hand corner of your screen). Click on MSU-Secure, then click Connect



  2. C‌lick Configure WiFI

  3.  Select Details.



  4. Select MSU-Secure from the network list.
  5. Then, click on the Up Arrow on the right until MSU-Secure is on the top of the list.
  6. Finally, click Close.
