Alpha Iota Chi (AIX) is a local social sorority at Montclair State University. AIX is unique to Montclair State University. We are part of ISC (Inter Sorority Council), SGA, and Greek Council.
We currently have 308 sisters. Our purpose is to have fun while building the bonds of sisterhood through academic achievement. Our colors are aqua, black, and white.
We believe very strongly in Greek Unity. We socialize with organizations at MSU as well as other campuses. Our sisters contribute time by participating in other organizations' philanthropies (such as the Pi Kappa Alpha Dream Girl Competition, and the Sigma Delta Phi date auction) as well as participating in many on campus activities such as Homecoming, Greek Week, campus clean-ups, clothing drives, and food drives. In February, the local sororities hold Cotillion, where the sisters who were inducted during the past year are presented at a formal event with the other sororities.
AIX donates supplies and food to the Clifton Animal Shelter to help the homeless animals before they are adopted. Visit Community Service for more information on AIX and the community.
Most of our sisters work part-time or full-time jobs while participating in campus activities and maintaining high academic standards. Each sister has their own unique interests as well as ones which they share with each other. Some of our interests include: shopping, ice skating, skiing, traveling, horseback riding, drawing, going out, cheerleading, dancing, gymnastics, camping, swimming, roller derby, line dancing, ballroom dancing, knitting, reading and just spending time with other sisters and friends.
Every year the Active Sisters spend time planning and attending special events, including: Themed Date Nights, Summer Picnics, Alumni Banquets and Formals. Aside from the social functions, the sisters also hold group Library Study Hours on campus. Academics are number one on each of our priority lists.
