| The MSU ATEP was awarded 5 year accreditation by CAAHEP in October of 2003!!! | |||||||
| On March 1,2004, family, friends, colleagues and alums gathered at the Athletic Trainers' Society of New Jersey's (ATSNJ) 18th annual conference to witness a very surprised MSU head athletic trainer and ATEP clinical instructor par excellence John Davis receive the coveted Victor "Vito" Recine Distinguished Service Award for over 20 years of meritorious service to the profession. As the story goes, the ATSNJ Awards Committee conspired to bestow this well deserved honor, in complete secrecy, and against the wishes of conference chair Davis. After the morning educational sessions ended, he was joined at his luncheon table by his wife Barbara, right hand assistant Lindsey, and his parents. Also in place were several tables of MSU students, faculty and athletic department colleagues. Their presence aroused Davis' suspicions, however, it was not until committee chair, Mark Cherwony, began the presentation that the full impact of the realization hit (see the photo on the left). After the luncheon, a good number of the MSU contingent gathered for a group photo with the fearless and tireless MSU "Father of Athletic Training". Thanks for all you do for us and Congratulations John!!! |
