Seymour “Swede" Masin '42 was inducted into the JCC MetroWest Jewish Sports Hall of Fame for his outstanding contributions to sports in New Jersey. The induction ceremony was held at the Crestmont Country Club in West Orange. Panzer

Frank X. Sutman '49 '52 M.A. was appointed Visiting Scholar in Science Education at Richard Stockton College in Pomona where he will help initiate the graduate education program with an emphasis on science education. Sutman served on the MSU Alumni Board and as vice president from 1982 to 1988.

William Boyarsky '53 '59 M.A. is enjoying his retirement by substitute teaching, reading to kindergartners and watching his grandsons participate in seasonal sports.

Barbara Sydell LeBey '59 had two books published: Family Estrangements: How they Begin, How to Mend Them, How to Cope with Them in 2001, and Remarried with Children: Ten Secrets for Successfully Blending and Extending Your Family in 2004. Both were published by Bantam Books.

Moira McCluney '63 retired after 26 years as professor of French at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa.

Anthony Ranado '64 is serving as interim principal of Hightstown High School.

Patricia Nachtigal '68 was appointed a trustee member of the Board of Governors at Rutgers University in New Brunswick. Nachtigal serves as board chair and has played a key role in discussions about the proposed restructuring of the state's public research universities. She is senior vice president, general counsel and a member of the board of directors of Ingersoll-Rand, and also serves as a member of the board of trustees of Greater North Jersey Chapter of National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Lorraine Robinson-Hilton '68, a member of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra's (NJSO) Master Teacher Collaborative, was named 2004 Master Teacher and was honored at an NJSO spring concert at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark. Robinson-Hilton works with symphony musicians and the symphony's educational committee to develop lesson plans and activities for students.

Jay Gavitt '69 '72 M.A. retired from the South Orange-Maplewood School District, where he served as chair of the Social Studies Department, and has become principal of Shepard High School in Morristown. He has taught and coached in public schools for 35 years. Gavitt received the National Council for the Social Studies' Advanced Certification and last year was awarded the New Jersey Academic Alliance's Outstanding High School Teacher of New Jersey History. He also is a member of the New Jersey Girls' Soccer Coaches Hall of Fame and the Columbia High School Boys' Soccer Hall of Fame.

Thomas Heath '69 is coach of the boys' cross country team at Christian Brothers Academy in Lincroft. The team has the longest national high school winning streak in boys' cross country.

Michael Mariniello '69 was elected in June to a one-year term as the national president of UNICO, the Italian-American service organization. Mariniello was president of the Hackensack Chapter in the early 1990s and was the national treasurer from 1997 to 2002. He has served for two years as the national fund-raising chair for UNICO's mental health charity projects while taking on the national posts of first vice president and executive vice president.

Nancy Maurer Muddell '70 was awarded the 2003-04 Governor's Teacher Recognition Award. A first-grade teacher at School 8 in Clifton, she was also the recipient of a grant from the Clifton Education Foundation for developing a butterfly studies curriculum and creating a butterfly garden on the school grounds. She serves on the school's Parent-Teacher Organization executive board and the district's Language Arts Committee.

Michael Walling '70 had his first book, Bloodstained Sea: The U.S. Coast Guard in the Battle of the Atlantic, 1941-1944, published by McGraw-Hill.

Elaine Haberberg Citron '71 launched a jewelry design and manufacturing company, Jewelry By Elaine Citron. Her work was featured in the March 2004 issue of Woman's Day.

Patricia L. Higgins '71 was elected to Visteon Corporation's Board of Directors. The former president and chief executive officer of Switch and Data in Tampa, Fla., she now serves on the Board of Directors of SpetraSite Inc.

Ruth Grabner '71 M.A., former president and current member of the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Art Association, had her silhouette cutting works shown at the Trailside Museum Harvest Fest in Watchung.

Georgette Klemchalk Lentz '71 M.A. was accepted into the Indiana University chapter of Phi Delta Kappa International, an organization dedicated to promoting high-quality education as essential to the development and maintenance of a democratic way of life. Lentz also is included in Who's Who Among America's Teachers, 2004.

Marilou Rochford '73, a family and consumer sciences educator with Rutgers Cooperative Extension in Cape May Court House, was honored by Parenting Press as Outstanding Parenting Education Practitioner.

Judith Impell '73 M.A. was hired by the Somerset Hills Regional School District as director of special services.

Marcella LoCastro '74, Deloitte Consulting's principal, was quoted in an Associated Press story about women climbing the corporate hierarchy. The article appeared in The Star-Ledger, Newsday and the Daily Record and has been posted on more than 15 news Web sites. Recently, LoCastro was a panelist on News 12 New Jersey's “New Jersey Business" where she discussed her involvement in the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners and the Women's Initiative.

Michael D'Agostino Esq. '75, , a partner of the firm Becker & D'Agostino, New York, was honored at the annual convention of the American Trial Lawyers Association in Boston last summer for his volunteer service for the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund. The Fund was set up under the United States Department of Justice to provide compensation to the victims of Sept. 11 and to their heirs and dependents. D'Agostino represented the estates of deceased victims.

Anthony Del Duca '75 M.A. was appointed vice principal and director of Athletics and Co-Curricular Activities at Watchung Hills Regional High School, which has 30 athletic teams.

Michael Gabriele '75 hosted a program for the Nutley Historical Society, “Remembering the Nutley Velodrome; The Last Outpost of the Golden Era of Cycling," which featured the history of the Nutley Velodrome, and an analysis and interpretation of its place in the history of the sport of cycling.

Allyn Gooen '75 '78 M.A., a balloon sculptor who creates sets, props and costumes from balloons that he twists into various shapes, demonstrated his creations last summer at the Woodstock Playhouse stage for a presentation of “Snow White and the Eight Dwarfs," which was part of the Gooen's Balloowins Family Series.

Judith Barberio Pollachek '76 M.A., a member of the Rutgers School of Nursing faculty, has written an encyclopedic guidebook for nurses that lists more than 1,000 commonly used medications. Nurse's Pocket Drug Guide 2005 provides information nurses and advance practice nurses need to know when administering or prescribing medications. The guidebook is designed to fit into the pocket of a nurse's lab coat.

Charles Schiapelli '76, a retired Vineland police lieutenant, is director of Safety and Security for South Jersey Healthcare in Vineland.

Louis J. Schweitzer '78 '92 M.A. a teacher at Vernon Township High School, had his artwork exhibited at the 10th Pentimento Exhibition of Fine Arts for the Sussex County Arts and Heritage Council. The exhibition featured the work of Sussex County's art educators.

Esther Budnick '79 teaches art to fourth, fifth and sixth graders at the Community Center in Livingston. A certified art teacher in New Jersey public schools for 13 years, Budnick worked for the Living Art Seminars Company in Manhattan, which provides educational art workshops at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for elementary and middle school students within the tri-state area.

Carol Strowbridge '79 M.A. was appointed interim principal of Randolph High School. Strowbridge has been with the school district for 17 years and has been the K-12 guidance director for 10 years.


80s
Mike Davino '81 graduated from Army War College in Carlisle, Pa. with a master's degree in strategic studies. He is chief of the Personnel Readiness Division at the U.S. Central Command in Tampa, Fla.

John Henry '81 '84 M.A., a technology teacher at Woodbury High School, was awarded the Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellowship and is spending the school year at NASA in Washington, D.C. In the past Henry has received the Radio Shack Teacher Award in Math, Science and Technology in 2002-2003, county and state Technologist of the Year, and the New Jersey Department of Education Governor's Teacher Recognition Award.

Lynn Zlotnick Schneider '82 is re-broadcasting her WMSC radio shows on the Web. The shows span from 1979 to 1982 and contain about 50 hours of programming, featuring new wave, punk, ska, reggae and oldies.

Peter D. Aquino '82 joined the Board of Directors of iBasis, a leading wholesale carrier of international long-distance telephone calls and a provider of retail international prepaid calling cards.

Thomas Canavan '84 self-published a book, I Don't Have Time for This: My Battle with Cancer, which details 13 months of his life as a cancer patient from the initial diagnoses of lung and brain cancers as well as subsequent diagnoses. His younger brother was the oncologist whose aggressive treatment plan led him into remission.

Ellen Lewis Price '84 joined Burgdorff ERA as sales associate in the Morris Regional office. Price is a licensed New Jersey real estate sales associate and a member of the New Jersey Association of Realtors, North Central Jersey Association of Realtors, Garden State Multiple Listing Service and the National Association of Realtors.

Richard Duriske '85 was promoted to sergeant at the Dover Township Police Department. Duriske was an evidence and crime-scene technician for 10 years and nine-year member of the Emergency Services Unit while he was a patrol officer. Duriske is also an emergency medical technician and served as a field training officer and member of the police color guard.

Mark Griffin '85 is director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation at Rutgers University-Newark. Previously he was associate director of Athletics and compliance and eligibility officer at New Jersey City University.

Shirley Ward '86 was named director of Community and Urban Affairs at Public Service Electric and Gas in Newark, where she previously held a variety of management positions.

Robert Knoll '87 has joined the Advanstar Medical Economics Division as vice president for Operations, responsible for developing efficiencies and best business practices, and creating and launching new products and services that will meet the changing needs of the company's customer base.

Roselyn Costantino '88 M.A. received the 2004 George W. Atherton Award for excellence in teaching at Pennsylvania State University. Costantino was recognized for her leadership in shaping the Foreign Language and Women's Studies programs at Penn State's Altoona campus, and for combining teaching, research and service to enhance the educational experience of her students and colleagues.

Sherry Davis Jenkins '90 was appointed chief financial officer and director of finance of Mt. Olive Township.

Jill Robertson Richards '90 was an Olympic torch carrier for the 2004 Summer Olympic Games, carrying the torch in Atlanta, Ga.

Salvatore Colatrella '91 M.A., '94 M.A., '01 M.A. was appointed director of Special Services for the Jackson School District. He previously served as director of Special Services for the Holmdel Public Schools and assistant director of Special Services for the South Orange and Maplewood school districts.

Richard Colloca, Jr. '92 was named director of the Food Services Group at Amper, Politziner & Mattia, certified public accountants and consultants firm. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute of Managerial Accountants.

Carolann Marino '92 '97 M.A. was appointed resource room teacher at Ridgewood High School.

Jessie Clairvil '93, a pediatric and adult otolaryngologist, has joined the medical staff at the Memorial Hospital of Salem County. Clairvil is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American Academy of Otolaryngology--Head and Neck Surgery, the American Osteopathic College of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology--Head and Neck Surgery, and the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Marc Fanelli '93 '99 M.A. is vice president of Customer Insight for Experian Marketing Services. Fanelli previously worked for Hoffman-LaRoche and InfoUSA.

Stephen Mulhearn '93 received two state-level teaching awards: Outstanding New Business Education Teacher by the Arizona Business Education Association and New Teacher of the Year by the Arizona Marketing Educators.

Patricia Hans '94 M.A. is an English teacher at Ridgewood High School.

Mary McTigue '94 M.A. is an associate medical editor at a pharmaceutical continuing education firm in Livingston.

Robert Terranova '94 M.A. was named vice president of Operations for Zonare Medical Systems, Inc., a medical device company developing a next-generation premium ultrasound platform. With more than 20 years' experience in engineering, program management and manufacturing, Terranova held several management positions in operations and engineering, most recently as director of engineering of Datascope's Patient Monitoring Division.

Jason Yudoff '94 was named Unsigned Artist of the Month (August) by Keyboard magazine. His band, Jason Yudoff & The New Hottness, perform throughout the New York/New Jersey area.

Christine Sellitti '95 is an associate of the Somerville law firm Norris, McLaughlin & Marcus P.A. Prior to entering private practice, Sellitti was law clerk to the Honorable James G. Troiano, J.S.C., Essex Vicinage, Family Part. Sellitti is admitted to the Bar of New Jersey and the U.S. District Court, District of New Jersey, and is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association.

Carol Benson '96 had her paintings displayed at the Riverdale Public Library in the fall. Benson teaches art in the New Jersey public school system.

Gwendolyn Hutson Furr '97 M.A. was named Essex County's 2004 Teacher of the Year. With more than 20 years' teaching experience in New Jersey public schools, Furr has been featured in Who's Who Among America's Teachers and has received the Governor's Award from the Irvington Education Association.

Jodi Kastel '97 was promoted to manager of Publications and Web Development at Somerset Medical Center.

Todd Van Beveren '97 was named director/composer of the New Jersey Intergenerational Orchestra.

Shana Caulfield '98 teaches health and physical education at Glen Ridge High School.

Lisa D'Ambola Ventura '98, a fourth-grade teacher at Brookside Place Elementary School in Cranford, was named 2004-05 Cranford and Union County Teacher of the Year.

Evan Childs '99 is a senior account executive with NJN Public Television and Radio. Previously, Childs was director of State and Federal Governmental Affairs for the New Jersey Credit Union League, a state trade association.

Richard Katz '99 M.A. is principal at Bedwell Elementary School in the Somerset Hills Regional School District.

Leyda Torres Lukowiak '99 played her first major role as Daphne in the fall production of Noel Coward's “Present Laughter" on the Nutley Little Theater stage.

Bryan Rios '99 is a medic and X-ray technician with the Army's 501st Forward Support Battalion of the 1st Armored Division in Iraq. Rios has been in Iraq since May 2003. His duties include patient care, X-rays, repairing and transporting medical equipment, and providing guards and security for the soldiers under him.

Glen Karpowich '00 is a graphic artist at Disney Adventures magazine.

Joan Ruchelman '00, a professional pottery artist, teaches pottery classes for beginner, intermediate and advanced students in her home studio. Ruchelman did postgraduate studies in figurative sculpture at the School of Visual Arts in New York City and the Florence Academy of Art in Italy.

Kara Vallone '00 celebrated the second anniversary of her Cranford dance studio, Beyond Dance, which offers children's dance programs for students from 3 to 7 years old.

Laura Ginenthal '01 teaches French at Ridgewood High School.

Meredith Chance '02 is an academic skills teacher at George Washington Middle School in Ridgewood.

Katherine Kashmanian '02 M.A. is a unit administrator at George Washington Middle School in Ridgewood.

Richeall Kennedy '02 is a physical science teacher at Glen Ridge High School.

Cathy Condon '04 M.A. was named principal at Queen of Peace High School in North Arlington, where she previously served as vice principal for Student Affairs. Before joining Queen of Peace, Condon spent 27 years in education, most of which were at Don Bosco Preparatory School in Paterson.

Rocco Rubino '04 teaches physical education and is assistant football coach at Whippany Park High School.

Danielle Rusciano '04 teaches health and physical education at Jefferson Middle School in Morristown.
