Montclair State University's 2006 Commencement ceremony on May 19 was led by members of the Class of 1956 who were celebrating the 50th anniversary of their graduation. Donning traditional Commencement regalia and a commemorative sash, 20 alumni were honored by Dr. Susan A. Cole and received a standing ovation from the crowd.

Alumni Weekend kicked off with the Montclair State Alumni Association's Annual Meeting in University Hall. Executive Board inductions took place, including that of new president, Frank A. Alvarez '76 who replaced Wayne D. DeFeo '80, '82 M.A. after his three year term came to an end. Following the meeting, alumni classes from 1956 and earlier had a '50s Luncheon at the Red Hawk Diner while they reconnected and reminisced with old friends. The celebration came to a close with a gala in University Hall where alumni enjoyed the spectacular view and danced the night away.
