Montclair State is New Jersey’s second-largest and fastest-growing university. We offer all the advantages of a large university — a wide range of excellent undergraduate and graduate programs, a diverse faculty and student body — combined with the individual attention of a small college. MSU provides more than 250 majors, minors and concentrations — including the nation’s only doctorate in pedagogy, the state’s only doctorate in audiology and a unique interdisciplinary doctorate in environmental management — while remaining accessible and affordable. Our five schools and colleges prepare students to lead productive, rewarding and responsible lives in society and the world. Our 246-acre campus boasts excellent academic and recreational facilities and an exciting calendar of events and performances by students and professionals. MSU makes the most of its location in vibrant Montclair and just 14 miles away from New York City. For almost 100 years, the history of Montclair State has been one of growth and distinction. Building on our proud heritage and led by a committed team of officers and deans, we constantly move forward to meet the challenges and opportunities of today and tomorrow. Montclair State’s Mission Statement and Strategic Plan reflect the University’s expanded role in and ongoing commitment to educating the students of New Jersey, conducting research, and serving our local and wider communities. We are expanding to accommodate at least 18,000 students by 2008, recruiting outstanding new faculty and staff. Our flagship University Hall opened in Spring 2006 with more than 60 state-of-the-art classrooms, lecture halls, laboratories and study lounges, as well as the region’s most sophisticated conference center. Montclair State remains deeply committed to public service, offering a wide range of noncredit and special programs to part- time students as well as thousands of learners aged from 3 years through adult. Montclair State University is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, as well as many specialized academic organizations. |
