TANIS NAMED TO ALL-AMERICA THIRD TEAM

Montclair, NJ (11/19/07) – Senior forward Jennifer Tanis (Oak Ridge, NJ /Jefferson) put the capper on the finest career in Montclair State history as she was named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III All-American Third Team.

Tanis was one of 48 players to be named to the three teams selected by the organization.

Tanis, a four-time All-NJAC and South Atlantic All-Region selection, becomes the sixth player in program history to earn All-American honors. In her four years at MSU, Tanis helped the Red Hawks to a 51-12 mark, which included an appearance in the 2005 NCAA Division III Tournament and back-to-back ECAC Mid-Atlantic titles.

The Red Hawks all-time leading scorer, Tanis is wrapped up the finest career in the history of the Montclair State field hockey program. The now four-time All-Region selection finished the year with 10 goals and collected seven assists for 27 points as she ranks second in the team in goals and points and was second on the squad in assists.

Tanis entered the season as the all-time leader in goals and points and added the assist record to her resume as she ended her career with 33 to go along with 77 goals and 137 points. Last year, Tanis set the season marks for goals (23) and points (63) as she was named the NJAC Offensive Player of the Year.

Tanis also took part in one more contest in her MSU uniform as she played in the NFHCA Division III Senior All-Start Game on Saturday. Tanis is the sixth player in Montclair State history to be selected to play in that game as she joins Megan Ulicny and Jen Carbonaro, who played in the 2003, Robyn Apicelli and Alexandria Kelly, who each partcipated in 2005 and Kristen Swartz (2006) .
