WILLIAMS NAMED NJAC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK FOR FOURTH TIME

Montclair, NJ (2/26/08) – Freshman guard James Williams (Englewood, NJ / Dwight Morrow) earned his fourth New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week Award on Tuesday. Williams was instrumental in helping Montclair State earn its first berth in the NJAC Tournament in three years.

Williams earned honors after averaging 21.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in a 1-1 week of league play for the Red Hawks. He opened the week with 20 points, six rebounds, two assists, and three steals in MSU’s 73-59 NJAC win over NJCU which clinched the first NJAC Tournament berth in three years for the Red Hawks. Three days later, he wrapped up his regular season with 22 points, three rebounds, four assists and two steals in a 75-73 NJAC road loss at Ramapo. It was Williams' third 20-point effort in his last four games.

Williams currently ranks 11th in the NJAC in scoring with an
average of 13.1 points per game.
