ROB CHESNEY
16th Season |
Rob Chesney
begins his 16th season as a Red Hawk coach. The all-time winningest
coach in MSU history, Chesney guided the Montclair State squad from
1991 until 2001 when he became the Associate Director of Athletics, a
position he still holds. Chesney’s association with MSU Soccer dates
back to the mid 1980s where he was one of the best players to don a
Montclair uniform. A two-time All-American and four-year All-Conference
and All-Region selection,Chesney led the Red Hawks to the 1989 NJAC
Championship and was named the league’s Player of the Year. The Red
Hawks reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament that season.
Two years later, Chesney became the 11th head coach in school history
and compiled a 128-64-18 mark, a .652 winning percentage, which included
five appearances in the NCAA DIvision III Tournament as well as
one ECAC Metro title in 1993. He was also named the Coach of the Year by the College Soccer Assocation
of New Jersey (CSANJ). In addition to his coaching achievements, Chesney, a member of the Montclair
State Hall of Fame, was instrumental in the construction of MSU Soccer Park, which opened in 1998.

MARLON POLLARD
Eighth Season |
A former standout Red Hawk player, Marlon Pollard is back on the Red
Hawks coaching staff for his eighth season. A four-year letterwinner,
Pollard was an All-NJAC, All-Region and All-America selection during his
playing career as well as the Montclair State Senior Athlete of the Year in
1999. In his career, Pollard scored 20 goals and added 24 assists for 64
points. He ranks among the Top 15 all-time in points and assists.
