MONTCLAIR SWIMMERS FINISH FOURTH AT UNION COLLEGE RELAYS

Schenectady, NY (10/27/07) – The Montclair State men's and women's swimming each posted fourth place finishes as the Red Hawks competed at the Union College Relays on Saturday. The men's team posted 60 points in the meet while the women's squad compiled 56 points en route to the finish.

The Montclair State women posted three third-place finishes in the nine-event relays. Kristine Bates (Clark, NJ / Arthur L. Johnson), Raquel Erwin (Ridgewood, NJ / Ridgewood), Kaitlin Muchler (Vineland, NJ / Vineland) and Brittany Cole (Linden, NJ / Linden) posted a time of 1:45.44 in the 200 fresstyle relay while Cole later paced the 300 butterfly relay to a time of 3:19.95. Cole was joined by Laura Flynn (Andover, NJ / Lenape Valley) and Galina Loutchouk (Richboro, PA / Council Rock). Loutchouk, Laura Sapdoni (Nazareth, PA / Nazareth Area) and Tracey Groel (Succasunna, NJ / Roxbury) combined for a time of 3:47.60 in the 300 breaststroke relay.

On the men's side, John Adams (Wharton, NJ / Pope John XXIII), Jon Kurtz (Stockholm, NJ / Vernon Township), Ricky Miller (Seaside Park, NJ / Monsignor Donovan) and freshman Blaise Lacca (Sewell, NJ / Washington Township) placed third in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:44.41.

Diver Marc Seemon (North Plainfield, NJ / Union Catholic) placed fourth in the 1-meter diving competition with a scored of 181.73.

Montclair State returns to action on Thursday, November 1 as the Red Hawks travel to Madison, NJ to take on FDU-Florham and Ramapo College.
