MONTCLAIR LOSES THREE AT MENLO DUALS
Atherton , CA ( 1/14/06 ) – The Montclair State wrestling team lost three duals matches on Saturday as the Red Hawks compete at the Menlo College Duals. The event marked the return of MSU head coach James Torres to the school he served as an assistant coach for the past several seasons.
MSU, now 4-3 on the year, lost to Great Falls ( Montana ), 34-10; University of Indianapolis , 37-12 and host Menlo, 33-12.
Derek Goduto, Jake Beitz and Mark D’Elia each won a pair of matches for Montclair State . Goduto, wrestling at 133 pounds, posted a major decision over Jace Cutrer in the match with Great Falls and later earned an 8-7 decision against Menlo’s Pablo Sanchez.
Beitz pinned Indianapolis ’ Brian Almer in 20 seconds at 184 pounds before securing a 9-2 decision against Jesse Vasquez in the Menlo contest. D’Elia was victorious at 184 pounds against Great Falls , beating Dan Gordon, 6-4. He then earned a default win at 174 pounds versus Indianapolis .
Bill Beiermeister recorded his 15 th win of the season as he defeated Luke Roberts of Great Falls , 8-6 at 285 pounds.
Montclair State returns to the mat on Sunday as the Red Hawks will compete in the Menlo College Invitational. |
