Introduction...

Montclair State has a history of excellence in the classroom and on the athletic fields. The University is proud of its Athletic Training heritage as well. From the days of Alan C. Coder, an original NATA 25-year Award winner, Athletic Training has been an important component of MSU athletics and the Panzer School of Physical Education.

The Athletic Training/Sports Medicine Services Department has always been a strong compliment to the educational program. The certified athletic trainers and supporting sports medicine staff strive to provide quality athletic health care to Montclair State student-athletes in all 17 sports.

In its strive to continue providing cutting edge educational opportunities for its students, Montclair State created the first Bachelors of Science degree program in Athletic Training Education in New Jersey. We are aiming to build upon the educational momentum and success of our past certified athletic training alumni while embracing the challenges of the Athletic Training Program and our new BS degree in Athletic Training.

The blending of the strengths of the athletic training professionals Montclair has attracted, and these two (2) independent but interrelated departments will continue to push Montclair State University Athletic Training to new heights in the future.
