"Carpe Diem," the television show produced by broadcasting students, airs on Bergen Cablevision Mondays at 5 p.m.; on Montclair Channel 34 Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 11 p.m. and Saturdays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at 1 p.m.; on Comcast Channel 26 Tuesdays at 9 p.m.; on Morris and Paterson Cablevision Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m.; on Oakland, Clifton and Pompton Cablevision Thursdays at 3 p.m.; and Clifton Cable channel 77 Fridays at 5:30 p.m.
Week of May 3: Conversation with Jack Ford. Emmy and Peabody award winner Jack Ford describes his career as a trial lawyer and the impact his experience in the courtroom has had on his 20-year career as a television journalist. Ford discusses interview techniques, cameras in the courtroom, when and how the judicial system and TV newsroom fail the public, and the public's obligation to respond to ratings-driven media. Ford has also been chosen as the DuMont TV Center Broadcaster of the Year for 2004. Produced and hosted by Bill Berlin; directed by Janet Pirchio.
Week of May 10: "Uncovering the Treasures of Gaza." Features Dr. Moain Sadeq, director of the Palestinian Department of Antiquities, Senior Fulbright Scholar and Visiting Scholar at Montclair State. Sadeq traces the history of the Gaza region, beginning in the Bronze Age, as an ancient trading route and an international crossroads of Arab, Egyptian, Greek, Roman and European traders and invaders, and describes the challenges facing archaeologists trying to preserve sites and artifacts in the region. Produced and hosted by Bill Berlin; directed by Janet Pirchio.
