President Susan A. Cole was a panelist at the Governor's Conference for Women held Oct. 6 in New Brunswick. The panel, "Today's Children are Tomorrow's Leaders: Educational Policy and Advocacy," also included Rachel Pereira, confidential assistant to the commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Education; Syvonne Forkin, past president of the New Jersey Parental Teacher Association; and Gloria Bonilla-Santiago, a Board of Governor's Distinguished Service Professor at the Department of Public Policy and Administration, and director of the Strategic Urban Community Leadership at Rutgers University.

Matthew Gorring, Stefanie Brachfeld, Jennifer Reynard and Jonathan Lincoln of Earth and Environmental Studies will have their individual research presented at the 116th meeting of the Geological Society of America held Nov. 7-10 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver. Approximately 6,200 geoscientists are expected to attend.

Freyda Lazarus of the Center for Community-Based Learning gave a presentation, "Travels to Tollhattan," at the Mid-Atlantic Cooperative Education and Internship Conference Program last month in Atlantic City. Lazarus spoke about her experience at the World Association for Cooperative Education's International Symposium in Tollhattan, Sweden.

Michael McCormick of Biology and Molecular Biology discussed "Productivity of the Sea" at a recent meeting of the Old Guard of Morris County in Madison.

Susana Sotillo of Linguistics and alumna Julie Wang-Gempp '02 M.A. co-authored an article, "Using Corpus Linguistics to Investigate Class, Ideology and Discursive Practices in Online Political Discussions," published in Applied Corpus Linguistics: A Multidimensional Perspective.
