MSU Campaign Film Honored with 2005 Spotlight Award

The League of American Communications Professionals has awarded a Silver Spotlight Award to a film that Montclair State University commissioned to capture the vision of the Campaign for the Second Century. The competition, featuring hundreds of entries from around the world, honors the top print, video and Web communications materials of 2005.  The award for the MSU film was one of six spotlight awards garnered by its producer, DigiNovations, which also won Agency of the Year honors in the competition.

"We are thrilled that our DVD about Montclair State University's Campaign for the Second Century has been recognized by The League of American Communications Professsionals," said Thomas J. Haynes Jr., vice president for University Advancement. "Through this project, we wanted to show how Montclair State's visionary change is firmly rooted in our enduring core values. DigiNovations focused and translated our vision into an effective tool for energizing our constituents. This DVD gets our message across to our alumni and friends about how The Campaign for the Second Century is building a stronger future for the University."

The DigiNovations crew spent many weeks on campus earlier this year, and the 14-minute film, "Montclair State University: The Next 100 Years" brings to life the many new initiatives the University is pursuing to prepare for the start of its second century in 2008. The video tells the story of the University’s ambitions entirely through the words of students, faculty, leadership and alumni.

"Montclair State asked us to make a film that captured the flavor and spirit of campus life, and to convey the clear vision and strategy behind its plans for a second century," said Michael Kolowich, executive producer of DigiNovations.  "We were struck, as we conducted dozens of interviews on campus, by the consistency and clarity of the vision at every level; and that made this powerful story easy to tell."
