"I think people, when they know one another, exchange pleasantries.
And if they don't like one another, nothing is said. I think somebody
can pop off from the dugout, and it might force some other people from
the other dugout to comment, but the dugout is a place of business, much
more than a bench would be in basketball."--Head Baseball Coach Norm
Schoenig in a Aug. 11 article in The Record headlined "Loudmouths:
Trash-talking an all-too-common play."
"I believe that when an opportunity to give back to the community
presents itself, take it before the time slips away."--Rose Cali,
a member of MSU's Board of Trustees, in a feature article about her in
the September issue of Suburban Essex magazine titled "The
joy of giving back: Philanthropist Rose Cali loves what she does--to the
benefit of others."
"While each college is different, Montclair State University's Center
for Community-Based Learning has an extensive program as well. At Montclair
State, academically involved internships are referred to as cooperative
education."--From "Internship Programs: A Boon for Students
and Employers" in the September issue of New Jersey Business
magazine.
Robert Aldridge of Music was featured in The Star-Ledger
on Sept. 19 in an article headlined "Montclair State Composer Gets
a Year at the Opera." Aldridge was recognized for receiving the prestigious
Guggenheim Fellowship, a $36,000 grant that he will use to compose an
opera.
