- Lucille Weistuch of Early Childhood and Elementary Education passed away Sept. 11. She joined the University in 1989 and served for many years as a member of the Communication Sciences and Disorders faculty. She was an active scholar in the area of early childhood special education and was a past president of the Division for Early Childhood of the New Jersey Council for Exceptional Children. Donations can be made in her name to the new Children's Center at MSU through the University Foundation. - Three informational meetings about the new academic building will be
held this week. The first meeting is for students and will be held from
5 to 7 p.m. in the Student Center, Room 417; a second for faculty and
staff will be held on Thursday, Sept. 26, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in Dickson
Hall, Room 178, and will be immediately followed by a meeting for College
of Education and Human Services faculty and staff from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.
- Jason Strother, a senior in the Broadcasting Department, received the 2002 John Hogan Scholarship from the Radio and Television News Directors Foundation in July. The award includes a $1,000 scholarship plus airfare and hotel expenses for Strother to attend the conference in Las Vegas in April, where he will receive the award. - New hours for the Student Center Dining Room are 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. - New electronic initiatives have taken place over the summer. The 2002-2003 Administrative Calendar now is available online at www.montclair.edu/admincalendar. Both the directory and calendar are available in electronic format only. Montclair State University E-cards can be sent from www.montclair.edu/ecard. A variety of campus pictures are available to send with your message. The MSU E-Card is made possible by the Division of University Advancement and the Office of Information Technology. - The Drop-In Center is recruiting new staff members for its fall training sessions. Applications are available at the Center, located between Richardson Hall and the Student Center. Training sessions will be held Oct. 13. For more information, call Rosemarie Manfredi at 5271.
