Faculty, staff and students can receive a 10-percent disount on tickets to performances at the Bergen Performing Arts Center, formerly the John Harms Center for the Arts, in Englewood. Call the Box Office at 201-227-1030 and mention the MSU discount when ordering tickets. Box Office hours are 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday. A schedule of events is posted on the Center's Web site. Montclair State employees can take advantage of special discounts available through the Alumni Association Affinity Partnerships. Offers include 40-percent discounts on televisions, MP3 players, and other consumer electronics, long-term care and pet insurance, vacation condos around the world and more. Employees may not use state funds to purchase goods and services through the Web site. Please make personal purchases only. It's time to renew library books. The due date for books renewed now is May 11, 2005. Books can be renewed three times in person at the Circulation Desk, by phone, or online. To renew library materials online, go to the My Library Card link on the Sprague Library Catalog Web Page. Instructions for renewing items online are available on the My Library Card Services Web Page. After three renewals, books must be returned to the Library. Overdue books, books for which there are outstanding holds (i.e., items requested by other patrons), and those that have reached the renewal limit (three renewals) cannot be renewed. Contact the Circulation Department at 973-655-4288 for assistance if you have problems renewing library books online. The contract for recycled toner has been awarded to International Laser. The cost for shipping is included in the price, and toner will be delivered two days from order based on available inventory. International Laser will accept the University P-card or a purchase order. For ordering instructions go to the Procurement Services Web site. International Laser's Web site can be accessed from MSU Mart and all orders will be placed online through the International Laser Web site. The user name is "msuser" and the password is "mslaser." For more information, call Klavdiya Hammond at 973-655-7858 or John Goscinski at 973-655-7468. The Communications Office is seeking volunteers to participate in a focus group that will examine the services of Insight Online. Staff members are seeking your opinions, suggestions and comments to ensure that INSIGHT best serves the needs of the campus community. Those interested should contact Jennifer Fusco at 973-655-5465 or e-mail her at fuscoj@mail.montclair.edu. Transportation and Parking Services now offers an online Shuttle Bus Tracking System. By going to www.montclair.edu/parking/transportation_info.htm and clicking on GPS Shuttle Bus Tracking, the location of all shuttle buses can be tracked by route. This real-time bus location information is provided 24 hours a day, seven days a week using Global Positioning System (GPS) technology. The system operates on Windows-based operating systems. A version compatible with Mac operating systems will be available soon. For more information about the system, e-mail the shuttle bus coordinator at transervices@mail.montclair.edu. For security reasons, the University ID Card Office, located in the Student Center, now requires employees and their family members who want an MSU ID Card to show proof of identification in the form of a Picture ID (driver's license or passport), Social Security card and birth certificate. Photocopies are acceptable. For more information, call Human Resources at 973-655-7136 or the University ID Card Office at 973-655-4147. Campus Recreation and Wellness Education are sponsoring a Walking Group on Mondays at noon and 7 p.m., and Wednesdays at 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. The group meets at the north entrance of College Hall, except for Monday at 7 p.m. when it meets at the Student Center Information Desk. For more information, call Marie Cascarano at 973-655-7397. "Celestial Boundaries," the fall exhibition in the Art Gallery, will be featured in an art review on New Jersey Network (NJN) on Friday, Jan. 18, at 8:30 and 11 p.m. Check your local listings for your NJN station. An updated version of the AY2004/2005 Faculty Handbook is available
online at www.montclair.edu/facultyhandbook. "Special Topics in Broadcasting: How to Watch Television" is open to non-majors in the spring semester. This is the only broadcasting course open to non-majors. The course is offered Mondays and Wednesdays 1-2:15 p.m. in Mallory Hall, Room 154. (The registration call number is 10408.) The course offers an approach that combines media education/media literacy with media criticism. Due to the increased cost of printing from computers in Sprague Library,
there is now a charge for printing at a rate of seven cents per
page. There is a one-time 50-cent charge to purchase a reusable vending
card. Instructions on the new print management system are available at
the various stations that support printing. Many library databases support
e-mailing of the full text of articles. Librarians at the Reference Desk
can help users determine if an article can be e-mailed. |
