MSU signs joint agreement with MCC

UPPER MONTCLAIR, N.J.

Continuing its tradition of academic excellence and commitment to community service, Montclair State University today entered into joint admissions and articulation agreements with Middlesex County College. The agreement allows MCC graduates to enroll as juniors at MSU and pursue a bachelor of science degree in business administration.

"As President of Montclair State University, the only public teaching university in New Jersey, I am pleased that we are able to offer admission to qualified students of this excellent community college," said Dr. Irvin D. Reid, president of MSU. "Students who earn their associate's degree at Middlesex County College will be able to continue their studies in MSU's highly ranked business administration program. This is an excellent example of an educational partnership that will be highly beneficial to New Jersey students."

We see these agreements as an extension of a long and mutually beneficial relationship between our two institutions and as a harbinger of additional cooperative ventures to come," said Dr. John Bakum, president of MCC. "The joint admissions agreement offers a wonderful opportunity to those students who know that Montclair State is where they ultimately wish to pursue a bachelor's degree, but see the advantages of getting started with an associate degree from Middlesex."

The agreement "is designed to assist students who wish to transfer into Montclair State University's business administration major, including any of the 10 concentrations covered by this major, to obtain a B.S. degree after successfully completing an A.S. degree in business administration or the A.A. degree in the liberal arts/business option from Middlesex County College."

According to the agreement, MCC students must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 to be admitted to MSU's bachelor of science program.

MSU has established similar relationships with Essex County College and Raritan Valley Community College. Additionally, high school graduates can become dentists in seven years through a joint affiliation agreement between MSU and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.
