Resolution to add Active Minds as a constituency

A proposal was presented to the PCAAD, at its October meeting, to add Active Minds as a constituency to the Commission. Active Minds is a student-run national mental health awareness, education and advocacy organization for young adults on the high school and college level. Its mission is to utilize peer outreach to increase students' awareness of mental health issues, provide information about available resources, and encourage students to seek help as soon as it is needed. By planning campus-wide events that promote awareness and education, the group aims to remove the stigma that surrounds mental illness and create an open environment for discussion of mental health issues.

MSU Active Minds was the first chapter in the state of NJ. It is a Class 3 SGA chartered student organization.

The protected classes for non-discrimination include persons with mental or intellectual disabilities. Therefore, a motion was made, seconded, and approved to propose to President Cole the addition of Active Minds as a constituency of the PCAAD.
