Rachel Brown is a proud alumna of Montclair State University. She one of very few MSU graduates to hold a B.F.A. in Theater with a Concentration in Acting and a B.F.A. in Dance. While studying at MSU, Rachel was the recipient of the CART Advisory Board Talent Award Scholarship, the Cento Amici Scholarship, Theater and Dance Service Award, and Linda Roberts Outstanding Senior Dancer Award. She also had the honor of being nominated and was a regional finalist for the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival Irene Ryan Acting Award for her portrayal of Katherine Schaub in "Radium Girls."

In her professional life, Rachel is a founding company member of moe-tion dance theater, a professional modern dance company (www.moetiondancetheater.org), based in Montclair NJ. She is also an original company member of project: Smith (www.nicolemariesmith.com) also based in NJ. Most recently she was seen in the "Lower East Side Murder Mystery: The Ryan case (Sally Watkins) and Lower East Side Murder Mystery: 1975 (Claire Lombardi/ Original Cast) produced by LiveINtheater based in NYC.

Other Theater Credits include: New Hampshire's Mount Washington Valley Theater Company's productions of "Fiddler on the Roof" (Tzeitel), "Cats" (Rumpleteazer), "La Cage Aux Follies" (Odette/Dance Capt.), "Thoroughly Modern Millie" (Ensemble/Dance Capt.), and before graduation, MSU's legendary production of "Cabaret" (Lulu/Dance Capt.). Film Credits include short films: "Sunday Times," "Emote I Con," and "Itch." Rachel was also an original cast member of Gary Cohen's original children's musical "The Reluctant Dragon" as Michelle the Dragonette.

Rachel has choreographed for numerous theater companies, schools, and studios throughout NJ and NH. Some favorite choreographic credits: "Annie," "Sweet Charity," "Pippin," "Bye Bye Birdie," "Hair," "Godspell," and "Anything Goes. For Mount Washington Valley Theater Company (NH) Associate Director/Choreographer for "Cats," Associate Choreographer for "Cabaret."

As an educator, Rachel has taught Musical Theater Dance, Ballet 1, and Acting 1 at MSU. Movement for the Actor at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Musical Theater at Broadway Dance Theatre in North Plainfield, NJ. She has taught workshops about creating fun, interesting, and easy choreography and using original choreography to inspire movement for The Speech and Theater Association of NJ. She has also had the honor of working with and performing the plays of elementary and middle school children with Young Playwrights Festivals at Playwrights Theatre of NJ.

Rachel continues to pursue a performance career and to teach whenever possible. Rachel hopes to inspire her students to take it "One Step at a Time" to make their career goals a reality.
