Adjunct or Visiting Specialist, Chemistry and Biochemistry
Profile
As an adjunct in the Department of Chemistry/Biochemistry, I start teaching a graduate level class in the spring 2013 semester. The course centers around practical laboratory aspects of working with DNA.
My work in the Siekierka lab has two goals at this point: setting up the baculovirus/insect cell expression system for recombinant protein production and obtaining antibodies to the B. malayi p38 kinase by single chain antibody phage display.

Specialization
For the past 15 years, I have been been interested in finding ways to improve stable expression in mammalian cells via expression vector development, through either the application of site-specific recombination or judicious use of IRES elements and selection markers.
