Profile
I have been fortunate to have had two careers that I have loved. I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from New York University’s School of the Arts where I was a teaching assistant in TV production. After graduation, I was a researcher for the NBC Fiftieth Anniversary show, based at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in Manhattan. I then worked for a year as a production assistant on commercial film shoots in Manhattan. Next, I spent 10 years on staff with HBO as a writer/producer/director creating trailers and behind-the-scenes videos for movies, concerts, and sports events. Afterward, I was a creative consultant for various broadcast advertising and promotion departments in New York City. My clients included HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, Lifetime, VH1, Nickelodeon, CBS News, NBC News, Grey Advertising and Time/ Life. I was later a Vice-President of Strategic Development for one of the Omnicom agencies, among other executive positions.
I use all this experience to enhance my course: CMST 110-Introduction to Communication and Media Arts.
My career advice to all students is simple: Work hard and volunteer! Impress your professors while you can because they may recommend you for a job or internship. My first job at NBC with the Fiftieth Anniversary Show came from my professors’ recommendations. That network-level job was never posted.
