Specialization
I am primarily interested in narratives which explore the intersections of race and class. While my professional degrees are in American Literature, my research centers African American women writers, especially Ann Petry and Michelle Cliff. Over the years, some of my most rewarding classroom moments were those which helped students embrace the process of writing as a way to think and learn about the inter-relationship among the self, U.S. society, and the world.
