John Luttropp is a Full Professor in the Graphic Design program in the Department of Art & Design at Montclair State University.
Professor Luttropp received his M.F.A. degree in Advertising Design from Syracuse University, Syracuse, New York, and his B.F.A. degree in Sculpture from the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design, Inc.
As a graphic designer, he has created work for Coca-Cola, Addison-Wesley Publishing Co., Thaumaturge Books, the American Finger-Style Guitar Festivals, Great Lakes Film and Video, the American Association of University Administrators, and ILFORD Photo Instructor, Astronomy, Builder, Wisconsin Architect, and Healthy Man magazines, along with identity systems for many businesses and organizations.
As a sculptor and fine artist, along with exhibitions of his work, he designed and executed two permanent public sculptures for the City of Milwaukee.
Professor Luttropp was a founding member of the performance art and music collective Pioneers of Modern Typography (PMT). The work of PMT has been recognized internationally, and has been featured on PBS, in Print magazine and Korea's Design Journal.
In addition to teaching and heading the Graphic Design program at MSU, Professor Luttropp is an avid traveler, with interests in art, design, and architecture. He has written three textbooks on graphic design.
