Profile

As a former high school mathematics teacher, my interests revolve around the teaching and learning of mathematics, particularly approaches to teaching which involve the use of collaborative learning formats and the distribution of mathematical authority in the classroom. In my research, I seek to understand how students make sense of their roles and responsibilities as members of their classroom communities. I am also interested in how preservice and practicing teachers develop mathematics knowledge for teaching (MKT) and how they access and utilize this knowledge in the classroom.

At Montclair State, I teach or have taught:

MATH 577: Mathematics Education in the Elementary School.
MTHM 201: Mathematics in Elementary Schools I
MTHM 302: Mathematics in Elementary Schools II
MTHM 511: Workshop in Mathematics Education II: Proportional Reasoning in Grades 4 – 10
MTHM 511: Workshop in Mathematics Education III: Foundations of Algebra in Grade 6-10
MATH 811: Mathematics Education Leadership
