Internship Opportunities

Prevention Counselors

Open to undergraduate and first year graduate students pursuing degrees in counseling, social work, or related fields. Prevention counselors are responsible for:

  • Scheduling meetings with clients
  • Helping to build relationships with sites (schools, other community based organizations, etc.)
  • Using the existing goals clarification curriculum to help clients identify, understand, and create a plan for goal attainment
  • Editing, clarifying, and enhancing the curriculum in conjunction with other prevention counselors, clinical supervisor, and administrative intern.
  • Keeping accurate and up-to-date records in client files
  • Attending and participating in weekly staff meetings and one hour of individual supervision
  • Collaborating as part of a team with assigned Family Intervention Specialist

Family Intervention Specialist

Open to second year graduate students (or first year students with extensive experience) pursuing master's degrees in Social Work, Counseling, or related fields. Family Intervention Specialists are responsible for:

  • Supporting Prevention Counselor teammate in working with individual clients
  • Attending and participating in weekly staff meetings and one hour of individual supervision
  • Making contact with families of individual clients and setting up meetings to discuss progress and family involvement
  • Connecting families with resources to assist with any presenting problems
