Department of Health and Human Services Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

As a part of its overall public health mission, CDC provides leadership in helping control the HIV/AIDS epidemic by working with community, state, national, and international partners in surveillance, research, and prevention and evaluation activities. These activities are critically important, because CDC estimates that over one million Americans are living with HIV, and 24 to 27% of these people are unaware of their HIV infection. 

National Association of People with AIDS

Founded in 1983, the National Association of People with AIDS is a non-profit membership organization that advocates on behalf of all people living with HIV and AIDS in order to end the pandemic and the human suffering caused by HIV/AIDS.

Lifebeat

LIFEbeat is the music industry's charitable organization dedicated to reaching America's youth with the message of HIV/AIDS prevention.  For more than ten years, LIFEbeat has helped to mobilize the talents and resources of the music industry to raise awareness and funds, and to provide support to the AIDS community.

In the State of New Jersey:

AIDS Resource Foundation for Children

The AIDS Resource Foundation for Children (ARFC), founded in 1985, is a community-based non-profit organization committed to providing cost-effective, family-centered services to children coping with the impact of HIV/AIDS. Our comprehensive offering of programs assists children in choosing the paths towards leading productive lives. ARFC is grounded in the belief that all individuals are of infinite value and should be treated with dignity and respect. All of our programs and services strive to maintain and nurture the integrity and preservation of the family.

Department of Health & Senior Services/Division of HIV/AIDS Services (DHAS)

This Division coordinates all State-government activities related to HIV/AIDS.

New Jersey HIV/AIDS Resource Directory

The New Jersey HIV/AIDS Resource Directory provides a variety of community resources available to individuals throughout the State of New Jersey.

NJ Women and AIDS Network

NJWAN is the only female specific AIDS service organization in the state and one of the first in the nation. Founded in May 1988, it is a non-profit, tax exempt organization.

The New Jersey Ride Against AIDS

The New Jersey Ride Against AIDS is a three-day bicycling event that benefits New Jersey AIDS charities . The next ride is set for September 28 - 30, 2007 . The ride begins at High Point State Park in beautiful northwest New Jersey and concludes in the charming, Victorian town of Cape May at the southernmost point of the state. The length of the ride is approximately 250 miles.

AIDS Coalition of Southern NJ

The AIDS Coalition of Southern New Jersey (ACSNJ) was formed in 1988 and incorporated in 1989. It currently serves Burlington, Gloucester, Salem and Camden Counties. It has an annual budget of approximately 2.5 million dollars and is supported by the United Way of the four counties, state and federal AIDS grants, and donations from friends of the agency. There is a staff of 47 persons and a volunteer corps of over 600 people. It is a multi-service agency serving the individuals and their families who are affected by HIV/AIDS. It is the only agency in the region that provides such a comprehensive approach to assisting individuals and families.

NY/NJ Education and Training Center

As part of a national network of 11 regional centers (and more than 130 associated sites) the NY/NJ AETC conducts targeted, multi-disciplinary education and training programs for healthcare providers treating persons living with HIV/AIDS.

American Red Cross

The Red Cross, working in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, educates people on how to stop the transmission of HIV, encourages people to respond in informed ways to people who have HIV, and helps people apply the facts about HIV to their own behavior. These goals are accomplished through our educational programs.

Food & Drug Administration

This web site contains information that FDA had developed to inform retailers and consumers about the regulation, which prohibited the sale of cigarettes and smokeless tobacco to children.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration

National Institue on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism

Courage to Speak Foundation

The Courage to Speak Foundation, Inc. - based in Norwalk, Connecticut - is dedicated to fulfilling its mission of "saving lives by inspiring youth to be drug free." The organization was founded in 1997, shortly after Ginger and Larry Katz lost their son, Ian, to a heroin overdose. Leadership to Keep Children Alcohol Free

The Leadership to Keep Children Alcohol Free is a national effort that focuses on the prevention of alcohol use by children ages 9 to 15. Their goal is to educate the American public about the dangers of early alcohol use and to mobilize action to prevent it.

National Council on Alcoholismm and Drug Dependence

The National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence provides education, information, help and hope in the fight against the chronic, often fatal disease of alcoholism and other drug addiction.

National Inhalant Prevention Coalition

The NIPC serves as an inhalant referral and information clearinghouse, stimulates media coverage about inhalant issues, develops informational materials, produces ViewPoint (a quarterly newsletter), provides training and technical assistance and leads a week-long national grassroots inhalant education and awareness campaign.

NIDA for Teens

NIDA created this website to educate adolescents ages 11 through 15 (as well as their parents and teachers) on the science behind drug abuse. NIDA enlisted the help of teens in developing the site to ensure that the content addresses appropriate questions and timely concerns.

National Runaway Switchboard

The National Runaway Switchboard (NRS) is a not-for-profit volunteer organization whose mission is to provide confidential crisis intervention and referrals to youth and their families through national and local telephone switchboards, as well as advocacy and educational services on behalf of youth .

In the State of New Jersey:

NJ Department of Health & Human Services Division of Addiction Services

The mission of DAS is to provide Statewide leadership for alcohol and other drug prevention and treatment services for New Jersey residents; to decrease misuse or abuse of alcohol and other drugs by supporting the development of a comprehensive, high quality network of prevention and treatment; and to recognize addiction as a treatable illness where people at risk for/or with addiction problems are managed with dignity and respect, in a safe environment that is recovery oriented and accountable to the public.

The Agape Center

The Agape Center purpose is to provide a place where recovering alcoholics and other chemically dependent persons, and their family members can meet in a safe and comfortable atmosphere.  It is designed to be a haven and refuge from the stress of the outside world---a place where fellowship, education and other activities leading to recovery may be found.  The Agape Center is not affiliated with Alcoholics Anonymous or any other Twelve Step program.  However, Twelve Step principles are used as the guiding standard in the daily operation and function of the Center.
