Career Development Program

  • January 9, 2009 CD email announcement to all eligible faculty and staff for project applications.
  • February 13, 2009 Final date for submission of CD applications to College/School Deans
  • March 2, 2009 Final date for transmission of CD project applications by the College/School deans to the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs for distribution to the Career Development Committee
  • April 17, 2009 Last day Career Development Committee may meet to recommend awards
  • May 4, 2009 Last day Career Development Committee sends CD project recommendations to the VPAA

VPAA notifies applicants of administrative action on CD projects within 10 days after the amount of the appropriation for this purpose is known by the University.

Curriculum Action Dates, 2008-09

I. New programs and program alterations become effective in the Fall semester only.

  • A. New programs approved in the course of the academic year (September 1 through June 30) become effective at the beginning of the subsequent academic year. New concentrations within an existing major or minor follow the schedule for program alterations (see B., below).
  • B. Program alterations must be approved by the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs (Provost/VPAA) in early January to become effective at the beginning of the subsequent academic year.  This means program alterations must be approved through all committee levels by November 30 of the academic year prior to which they become effective.

II. New courses and course alterations may become effective for the Summer/Fall or Spring semesters. All new courses and course alterations must be circulated throughout the University academic community on a submission list for a one-month period prior to review for approval by the Provost/VPAA and subsequent circulation on an approval list.  All new courses and course alterations must be approved through all committee levels and appropriate College/School deans before delivery to the Office of Summer Sessions and Curriculum Administration for circulation on a submission list.  The submission lists are circulated by the Office of Summer Sessions and Curriculum Administration at the beginning of each month, September through April.  The final submission list for the academic year is circulated May 15.  The approval lists are circulated by the Office of Summer Sessions and Curriculum Administration at the beginning of each month, October through May.  The final approval list for the academic year is circulated mid-June.

  • A. Final course approval dates for Summer/Fall semesters:  New courses and/or course alterations must be received in Office of the Provost/VPAA by November 30 to be placed on the December submission list.  If there are no challenges, the course proposals will be reviewed for approval by the Provost/VPAA in early January to be offered in the Summer or the Fall semester of the subsequent academic year. (New courses can be offered in the semester immediately following the approval of the Provost/VPAA).
  • B. Final course approval dates for Spring semester:  New courses and/or course alterations must be received in the Office of the Provost/VPAA by May 15 to be placed on the May submission list.  If there are no challenges, the course proposals will be reviewed for approval by the Provost/VPAA by mid-June to be offered in the Spring semester of the subsequent academic year. (New courses can be offered in the semester immediately following the approval of the Provost/VPAA).

  • September 29, 2008 Deans notify department chairpersons of faculty to be assessed.
  • December 2, 2008 Election of departmental assessment committees.
  • February 2, 2009 Self-assessment statements submitted to departmental assessment committees, department chairperson, and the College/School dean.
  • February 16, 2009 Final report of departmental assessment committees submitted to VPAA.
  • March 3, 2009 Deadline for submission to VPAA of written response to the departmental assessment committees' report by assessed faculty members, if desired.

Distinguished Scholar Program
