The Writing Center is available to all University students who are committed to developing themselves as writers. Whether students are encouraged to attend the Writing Center by an instructor, or choose it on their own, students will be provided with a tutor for weekly meetings. Writing Center tutors provide students with concrete, encouraging, and regular feedback designed to help writers improve their capacity to develop and express complex ideas meaningfully and clearly. Ideally students should come in with assignments, relevant readings, and, when possible, previously evaluated papers.
There is no charge for this service. Tutor referral forms are available from the English Department and on the Writing Center web page (http://edtech5.montclair.edu/english/Freshman/tutoring.htm). Call or consult the web page for more information and the current schedule. Students are welcome to visit the Writing Center at any time during the school year, either to schedule an appointment or to seek help on a drop-in basis.
