Notes:
DR. EGAN has held post-doctoral positions at the American Museum of Natural History and UCLA since completing her doctorate degree in 2000. Prior to that, she served as Research Assistant at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Egan co-developed a symposium on conservation genetics for the Wildlife Conservation Society and the American Museum of Natural History. She is the recipient of prestigious fellowships from the Luce Foundation and Schering Plough and is author of numerous journal articles. Dr. Egan will be teaching and conducting research in the area of Molecular Ecology.

Notes:
DR. KONAS joins the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department as an Assistant Professor of Medicinal Chemistry. He was most recently research associate at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation where he conducted research on the enzymology of nitric oxide synthase. As a doctoral student at the University of Michigan, he taught courses and supervised laboratories in chemistry and organic chemistry. Dr. Konas has a substantial number of published journal articles as well as conference presentations.

Notes:
DR. PENG joins MSU after four years on Tulane University’s faculty. Prior to that, he served as assistant professor at Oklahoma St. University, research scientist at the University of California- Riverside and senior scientist at Amherst Systems, Inc. Dr. Peng’s credits include a host of publications in refereed journals, referred conference papers/workshops and invited papers. His background in statistical learning, game theory and artificial intelligence will contribute to his role as a member of CSAM’s faculty of the interdisciplinary Science Informatics program.

Notes:
DR. SMITH-SEBASTO is transitioning to full-time teaching after serving as Associate Director of the MSU’s NJ School of Conservation since 2000, with the added responsibility of acting director from February 2001 to June 2002. From 1993 to 2000, he was assistant professor of environmental science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has also held adjunct positions at various institutions since 1993. He has remained active in conducting research in the area of environmental education and has published and presented his findings regularly. Dr. Smith-Sebasto was named to Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers in 2000 and 2005.

Notes:
DR. TRUBATCH has developed a solid record of teaching, most recently, at the U.S. Military Academy and as a graduate teaching/research assistant. His research interests are in nonlinear wave equations and physical applied mathematics. He has a number of publications in refereed journals such as Dynamics of Partial Equations, American Journal of Physics and Studies in Applied Mathematics.
