A conversation with the Provost. Dr. Lynde will discuss MSU's definition of scholarship and MSU strategic plan.

Each dean will present
his/her vision of their expectations for new faculty in their
colleges/schools, describe the different units and introduce their staff members.

Location Change: UH First Floor Courtyard Lounge
Dr. Rose Mary Howell, Dean of Students will
introduce faculty to the services offered by that office,
present the opportunities for new faculty to get involved with student
organizations and campus life. Issues of advising will be presented and discussed.

Dr. Eileen Kaplan, Interim Dean of Graduate School and Mr. Tim Kirby, Director of Research and Sponsored Programs, will describe the programs and services of that office as well as possibilities for faculty development. Emphasis will be on grant applications, the status of doctoral programs, and the IRB composition, responsibilities and guidelines.

FSP Scholarly Agendas
Faculty will gather in small groups. Please make sure to
read the abstracts that have been posted in Blackboard so you can
provide and
receive feedback to and from your colleagues. The resource faculty will
serve as "expert readers" and provide suggestions as needed.
(Reminder: February 7 is the deadline for
presenting
proposal to chairpersons, the first step in the process).
