Director's Welcome

On behalf of the Office of Residential Education and Services, welcome to Montclair State University’s residence halls and your new home-away-from-home!  It is our pleasure to have you as a member of our residential community.

Our residence halls are a vibrant and exciting part of campus life here.  The diversity of our student staff and student body provide critical opportunities for personal growth while at Montclair State University.  All of our residents are encouraged to contribute to our community by opening themselves to different ways of life, and by sharing the parts of their own lifestyles that only they can teach.  Our residence hall program is designed to provide you with cultural, recreational, social and academic growth.  Additionally, there are programs presented that will enable you to develop leadership skills.

Our Residential Leadership Council is an excellent organization for you to apply your leadership skills to, and develop a positive and productive community environment in your residence hall.  Hall staff will discuss with you the wide range of opportunities available to you while you are living in the residence halls.  Additionally, there are approximately 100 student organizations for you to choose from to become more involved in campus life.

The staff members who work for Montclair State University’s Office of Residential Education and Services are committed to assisting you to resolve any concerns which may arise during your time in housing.  Our live-in staff includes Community Directors, Assistant Community Directors, Community Assistants, Desk Attendants and Office Assistants; and they serve as tremendous resources and have been trained to assist you in a wide variety of situations.  Please do not hesitate to contact them or any staff in the central office at the 4th floor of Bohn Hall if you need assistance.  We hope that your time with us will be enriching and enjoyable and that we can support you in achieving your goals while here at Montclair State University.
