Mission and Values
The Office of Residence Life, in collaboration with other key University resources, is committed to providing a quality residential experience through our facilities, administration, counseling, dining services, and developmental programs that are engaging and beneficial to our residents’ academic success, safety and personal growth.
Integrity: We ensure our staff and residents have an intuitive sense of honesty, responsibility, accountability and respect for all members of the community.
Social Justice: We promote diversity, multicultural competency, and global awareness by educating students about social issues, supporting students developmentally, and providing members of the community opportunities to act as agents of change.
Courage: We stand up willingly and appropriately for what is right for the community as a whole, even if that stand is contrary to conventional wisdom. We exhibit confidence and tenacity to make bold decisions, hold to the chosen course despite challenges or difficulties, and accept full responsibility for the outcome.
Leadership: We are committed to providing an environment that promotes and develops leadership. Through various leadership opportunities and roles, members of the community will gain skills that will aid them in their success beyond their residence hall experience.
Service: We are committed to providing excellent service through quality response. Our department staff listens, prioritizes, follows through, and communicates to meet the needs and concerns of residents and all members of the University community.
Education: We develop the power of skill, reasoning and judgement; preparing one's self and others intellectually for a mature life through providing practical experiences beyond the classroom.
Civic Engagement: We foster an environment for civic engagement by challenging our students to participate in community development and service. We promote awareness of local, domestic and global concerns by providing opportunities for our community to actively address them.
