Timeline of the Office of Enrollment Management - Student Academic
Services
Fall 1990 - Dr. Irvin Reid, President
of MSU, in his Vision Statement called for the creation of an Academic
Success Center. President Reid envisioned the ASC occupying a prominent
place on campus and housing all major programs and services to ensure
MSU's students academic success.
September 1994 - Dr. Lee Wilcox, Vice President of Student
Development and Campus Life appointed an Implementation Team to examine
all programs which had potential for being included in the ASC and
to specifically identify those programs which should be housed in
Morehead Hall (the ASC).
December 1994 - Final Report of the Implementation Team on
the ASC submitted to Dr. Lee Wilcox.
January 1996 - Renovation begun on Morehead Hall.
September 1996 - The Task Analysis and Inventory Team was established
and charged to do general planning; train staff members on how to
create task statements; collect and analyze data; and make recommendations
to the Senior Leadership Team. The Process Analysis and Inventory
Team was established and charged to identify the processes and sub-processes
that would allow staff members to identify the process to which each
of their tasks belonged.
March 1996 - Task Analysis Team submits report to Senior Leadership
Team.
April 1997 - Renovation to Morehead Hall completed.
May 1997 - Senior Leadership renders final decision on the
composition of the ASC.
July 1997 - Staff members relocate to the ASC (Morehead Hall)
June 2000 - Dr. Karen Pennington, Vice President for Student
Development / Campus Life and President Susan A. Cole envision a move
to an Enrollment Management model.
January 2001 - Dr. Reginald Galen L. Ross joins the ASC as
the Associate Dean for Enrollment Management / Retention Services.
Fall 2002 - The ASC at Morehead Hall celebrates its 5th anniversary.
Fall 2004 - The Academic Success
Center was formerly renamed Student Academic Services

Reginald Galen L. Ross is selected as the first Dean of Enrollment
Management/Student Academic Services
June 2005 to present: Dr. Allyson Straker-Banks, joins Enrollment
Management/Student Academic Services as the Associate Dean of Student
Academic Services
