Brennan McFarlane, Undergraduate Student

Brennan is currently a senior at Montclair State University. He is studying history, with an interest in LGBTQ issues from per-modern times. Brennan hopes to enter a graduate school for history, as well as become an advocate for LGBTQ sex education. Brennan joined the LGBTQ Center to assist Montclair’s LGBTQ community with the belief that proactive community outreach and political advocacy are crucial. He is also very in New Jersey United Students as Parliamentarian, a statewide student advocacy non-profit. Brennan is also a student of German, having lived and studied abroad in Berlin. He hopes to enter the Teach English program in China.

Carlos Flores, Graduate Student

Carlos is a first-year graduate student in the M.A program in Community Counseling at Montclair State University. Prior to attending Montclair State University, he received his Bachelor's degree in Sociology from the University of South Florida and worked as a grassroots community organizer in Tampa, FL. As a Peer Educator in the Center, Carlos leads a weekly discussion group focused on issues of particular importance to Queer People of Color (QPoC). Carlos is interested in multiculturalism, LGBTQ rights, and advocacy.

 
   

Ebony Jackson, Undergraduate Student

Ebony Jackson is a graduating senior here at Montclair State. She has been a Peer Educator at the LGBTQ Center for 3 years. She is currently on both the creative and administrative committees for the LGBTQ Center. She loves to educate everyone about LGBTQ issues and the community. In her spare time she likes to watch Netflix, listen to music, read and sleep. She enjoys the work that she and the rest of her Peer Educators do for the LGBTQ Center.

Fred Bunton, Undergraduate Student

Fred is a freshman Theatre Studies major, Musical Theatre minor, who is extremely honored to be a part of the LGBTQ Center. Fred joined the Center in hopes of helping as many people as possible; one hug at a time. Outside of the Center, you can find Fred singing throughout campus, hanging out with friends in the city, studying hard at the Sprague library, or playing piano in the practice rooms of Chapin Hall. 

   
  Glenn Dungan, Undergraduate Student

Glenn Dungan is a Sophomore at Montclair State University. He studies Psychology and Sociology and minors in Creative Writing. He hopes to obtain a Ph.D in Organizational Psychology or Clinical Psychology. He is very indecisive. Glenn joined the LGBTQ Center because he believes in equality for all. He doesn't like people limiting the rights of others and he believes in acceptance. In his spare time Glenn enjoys running his hand through his hair and chasing pigeons. He enjoys working in the Center and is inspired by his fellow Peer Educators. Glenn Dungan is a co-facilitator for Men's Group, a discussion group that meets weekly. 

   
 

Jamie Sommer, Undergraduate Student

Jamie Sommer is a senior at Montclair State University. She is a philosophy, sociology, and religion triple major with a minor in classics. As a Peer Educator and Lavender Leader at the LGBTQ Center, she wants to educate students on LGBTQ issues in order to promote change. Jamie is also a 3rd year Community Assistant for Residential Education and Services and tutors at CADA for philosophy, sociology, religion, anthropology, and general humanities. In her spare time she enjoys running, reading, writing, and playing the guitar.

Johanna Durazzi, Undergraduate Student

Johanna is a peer educator and lavender leader at the LGBTQ Center. She is currently studying Political Science and she minors in both Sociology and GLBTQ studies. She thoroughly enjoys the experience of working with others, and embracing the diversity within us all. She is elated to see all of the positive changes our country is experiencing in regards to LGBTQ rights, and she's happy to be a part of the fight for equality. Johanna hopes to continue educating others about sex, gender, and diversity. She currently facilitates The Activist Forum, and is motivated to make the campus and the world a more LGBTQ friendly place.

Kristin Rossi, Student Assistant

Peer Educator 

Kristin Rossi is a Senior and a Graphic Design major. She applied to the LGBTQ Center because she is a proud Ally and wants to do anything she can to help out and better the program.  She is an artist and wants to apply her skill to the Center and make it beautiful! Since beginning to work at the Center, she has developed many of the logos and flyers that you see around campus. She hopes to gain more knowledge of the LGBTQ community and grow as a person through helping others. Kristin loves everyone, especially if you give her food.

Mateo Diaz, Undergraduate Student

Mateo is currently a freshman at Montclair State University majoring in Biology. As a volunteer at the LGBTQ Center, he wants to spread awareness that people are more than just one part of their identities - be that skin color, sexuality, race or gender. He wants to celebrate equality and help the MSU LGBTQ community in every way possible. Mateo loves loves science, listening to and spending time with people who make him happy.

Michael Klein, Undergraduate Student

Michael Klein (MK) is a Junior at Montclair State University pursuing a Television and Digital Media major with an Electronic Journalism Concentration. He also works as the Vice President of Players, the student theatre organization on campus. MK is very happy to now be volunteering for his second year at the LGBTQ Center, as he hopes to dedicate his life to equality and making a difference in the world. Michael is a co-facilitator for Men’s Group, a discussion group that meets weekly.

Monica transferred to Montclair State University this fall and is currently a sophomore. Her major is Psychology and she is going to declare a Justice and Families minor. Monica plans to pursue a Master’s degree and a certification in School Psychology. Advocating on behalf of the LGBTQ community has been one of her passions for nearly six years. She plans to put that to good use as a Volunteer in the Center and in her future career. Monica has a strong desire to travel and hopes to spend a semester abroad in London.

Nick is a Junior at Montclair State University; he is pursuing a Business Management major and a Theatre minor. He is very involved on campus and works with many departments including Alexander Kasser Theatre, Residential Educations & Services and even serves as Vice President for Players, a class one organization of the SGA. As a LGBTQ Center Volunteer, he looks forward to helping wherever he can and making a difference in at least someone’s life. In his spare time he enjoys being with friends, dancing and just making people smile.

Theadora Lecour is happy to begin her second year as a Peer Educator at the LGBTQ Center. She is both a Theatre and Communication and Media Arts major and is excited to work with her friends to make the Center a better place.

   
 

Veronica Schneider, Undergraduate Student

Veronica is a sophomore at MSU and is a Psychology major with a Criminal Justice minor. She ultimately plans to acquire a doctoral degree and possibly go into research. For the fall semester of 2014, Veronica plans to study abroad in Norway. In volunteering at the LGBTQ Center she hopes to learn more about the LGBTQ community and help make the Center a successful and helpful place. In her spare time she enjoys reading, playing the Sims, and drinking tea.
