1. What is a 1098-T?
   A: IRS Form 1098-T is a tuition statement issued to certain students with a copy sent to the IRS. It is to be used by federal income tax filers to determine eligibility for Hope or Lifetime Learning Tax credits.1098T forms are mailed to the address on file, students can also view the tax information by logging on to WESS account. Under the Student Records heading you will find an option to select “IRS Form 1098-T information.”1098-T phone line 973-655-3000.

2. When and how do I receive a refund check?
   A: If your financial aid information is completed, you may get a refund after add/drop or the week of 1/23/12. Refunds are issued to a student who has a credit balance on his/her account. Once you see a refund listed on the summary page of your WESS account you should expect the refund within 10 business days. Individuals with direct deposit may see the refund within 5 business days of the refund date on WESS. MSU will issue either an electronic direct deposit to a checking or savings account or generate a paper check. The default method of refunding is a paper check. Refund checks are automatically mailed to the mailing address on file.

3. When is payment due?
   A: Payment in full was due January 9. Once you have register for classes, you are responsible for all charges associated with that semester. If you decide not to attend any or all of your courses, you must officially withdraw through WESS at wfs.montclair.edu or submit a written notice to the Registrar’s Office. Check your student account via WESS for any amount owed to the University.
