NJ Community Water Watch is a project of the NJ Public Interest Research Group and Americorps which started in 1994 as a statewide service program located in 11 college campuses across the state. We work to improve water quality by activating and educating college students and community members about local water quality issues. New Jersey has the worst water quality in the nation with over 80% of our waterways being too polluted to swim or fish in safely. Our projects include clean-ups along the Passaic River, stream monitoring, teaching K-12 graders about water quality issues, and organizing an Alternative Spring Break.
