Visiting and Non-Degree Students
Visiting Undergraduate and Graduate Students
Visiting Students must complete and submit the Visiting Student Information Form in order to be eligible to register for classes.* By completing the visiting student application, you attest that you are a currently enrolled student and have met the appropriate course prerequisites where applicable. If you are unsure, we can direct you to the appropriate department chair for that course.

(Forms are typically processed within 2 business days. Visiting undergraduate students do NOT need to submit transcripts.)
- Visiting Graduate Student Information Form
The Office of Extended Learning welcomes students enrolled in other colleges and universities. Visiting Students have the opportunity to supplement their undergraduate and graduate programs by studying at Montclair State University in the Summer, Winter, Fall and/or Spring term. Enrolling as a Visiting Student is a great opportunity to earn credits toward your degree on campus or online during the summer and winter break.
Students currently enrolled in good academic standing at a regionally accredited college or university other than Montclair State University, and who are accepted by other regionally accredited colleges or universities to begin their studies in the spring semester are eligible to become Visiting Students and register for Winter Session courses.
Students currently enrolled in good academic standing at a regionally accredited college or university other than Montclair State University, and students who are accepted by other regionally accredited colleges or universities to begin their studies in the fall semester are eligible to become Visiting Students and register for Summer Sessions.
AFTER the online application has been processed, the student is eligible to register for open courses anytime after the online visiting student registration period begins; mid-November for winter courses or early March for summer courses.
If you currently hold a bachelor's degree, you may register for summer courses by applying through the Graduate School. There are two classifications for students wishing to take courses without fully matriculating in a graduate program: General Non-Degree and Professional Non-Degree. Please note that all non-degree students who hold a bachelor’s degree will be assessed graduate tuition, fees and other costs regardless of the level (Undergraduate or Graduate) of the courses they are taking.
*Registration may be completed up to and including the first day of the course as long as the course is open. Register early to decrease the possibility of being closed out of classes; the University cannot guarantee a student's preferred schedule. Upon their initial registration for a course(s) offered during Winter Session or Summer Sessions, Visiting Students are charged a one time $25 processing fee.
