On Campus: Arts

MSU’s six professionally equipped performance spaces, headlined by the state-of-the-art, 500-seat Alexander Kasser Theater, draw cultural commuters from around the region — even from New York City. Concerts and performances feature students as well as internationally renowned professionals like the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company and The Shanghai Quartet. Exhibition spaces, led by the new George Segal Gallery, showcase works by MSU students, faculty and other local, regional, national and international artists of distinction.

On Campus: Sports

The 3,400-seat Yogi Berra Stadium — named for a Montclair favorite son — is home to the MSU baseball team as well as the New Jersey Jackals of the Can-Am League. Floyd Hall Arena’s two NHL-sized ice surfaces draw skaters and hockey players from far and wide. The 2006 Olympic ice-dancing champions, Tatiana Navka and Roman Kostomarov, train here with Olympic medalist and Floyd Hall staff member Alexander Zhulin.

On Campus: Academic Outreach

MSU’s excellent outreach programs bring students of all ages to campus. The Center for Adult Learning caters to non-traditional and working adult students. Schoolchildren in Grades 4-11 profit from MSU’s Gifted & Talented Young Student program plus an array of summer camps and activities. Music-lovers from 3 years old through adults participate in term-time and summer music programs.

On Campus: Conference Center

The Conference Center at Montclair State University offers an unparalleled venue — with state-of-the-art facilities and a million-dollar-view of the Manhattan skyline — for corporate events, conferences and seminars.

Around Town: Montclair

The township of Montclair (pop. 38,000) is worth many visits in its own right. A well-known haven for artists and writers drawn by its lovely houses, tree-lined streets and easy commute into New York City, Montclair offers top-notch opportunities for eating, shopping, culture and recreation. The town boasts its own art museum and many performance spaces, as well as 18 public parks and two nature reserves.  Click here to view expanded local information.
