First-Year Writing Placement Confirmation Assignment

For All Incoming Fall 2009 Students Enrolled in ENWR100 or ENWR105

For the first day of your writing class (ENWR100 or ENWR105) you will need to read three articles and compose an essay in response to these articles on the subject of the purpose of higher education.  To be clear, this is your first college writing assignment, and it is due on the very first day of class.This assignment is not only a placement essay, but also your first college essay, which will be evaluated and graded by your first-year writing professor.

Due Date: First day of class, September 2009.

1. Bring a paper copy of your draft, and a print out of the three assigned readings.
2. Save a copy of your draft in an electronic form and place that you can access once you have begun school.

Please note: If you are exempted from ENWR100 and ENWR105, this assignment does NOT apply to you.
