Requesting a Library Research Class or Computer Classroom
Back to The First Year Writing Program - for Faculty
Library Research Class
In order to request a library research class to help your students with the documented essay or otherwise, fill out the library instruction request form here. If you have any questions, contact Kevin Prendergast at prendergask@mail.montclair.edu. You will be asked to follow the guidelines below:
- Provide all of the requested information so librarian may better prepare for your session.
- Submit only one class session at a time.
- Submit your request 10 working days in advance of the instruction date request.
- The course instructor's attendance is required at all library instruction sessions. Your presence is necessary to see the sources the librarians have shown, the topic(s) discussed, and so that you can field questions about the assignment. Your presence also demonstrates that you value research skills and that the library session is an integral part of your course.
- To help librarians prepare for the session, briefly describe your class assignment/topics.
- Librarians find instruction to be most beneficial for students who are working on a research assignment and are made aware of the requirements of that assignment before attending a library instruction session.
Computer Classrooms
In addition to Dickson Hall 281 which Rashida Batte-Bowden can reserve, you can also contact the following individuals for the following spaces should you periodically need to reserve computer classrooms or a moblie laptop cart. Please bear in mind that both these spaces are used primarily for ELS and Teacher Education Programs, and that First Year Writing does not get first priority. First come, first serve. Each department needs to be contacted by email with dates and times that you need the classroom, but also included here are thier extensions should you have additional questions:
- Tina Bollettieri for Dickson Hall 182 which seats 15 students, 280 which seats 24, and 282 which seats 36. Contact bollettiert@mail.montclair.edu x7695 (Rashida can check on "meetingmaker" for DI 280 and 282 availability but she cannot schedule you).
- Joe Russo for classrooms in the ADP Center in University Hall (first floor). Contact Joe at russoc@mail.montclair.edu. Note the initial "c" not "j" in his email.
- Mobile Laptop Cart can be reserved through CHSS in Dickson Hall. Contact chsstech@mail.montclair.edu. For additional questions, call x7835.
- College Hall 310 is being used heavily this Fall (2010) for OIT's training sessions. Also those on campus who need to use Video Confernencing and Satellite Downlinks are given precedence; however if none of the above three options are available, you can email Stanely Henry at henrys@mail.montclair.edu x4241.
